ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

(weekly calendar follows)

  • Based upon space, programming, and other logistics, it has been determined that grade six, as well as seven and eight, will receive instruction at the Ogden School Branch, 1250 West Erie Street, beginning in September 2008.  This is part of a transition process for Ogden School as we work to relocate the entire student body so construction of a new school can begin on this site.

  • All staff members, regardless of whether they teach at the Main or the Branch, have a voice mailbox on our school's main number.  If you wish to leave a message for a teacher at the Ogden Branch you can call the Branch directly (773.534.0866) or leave a message on the teacher’s voicemail at Ogden Main (773.534.8110).  The five digit mailbox number for all staff members has been posted on this website. If you need to reach Mr. Staral, please call 773.534.8110 and follow the prompts to connect to the Main Office.  Although this system will enhance communication between home and school, it is highly recommended that you use email to correspond with teachers as teachers have more access to the internet than to the telephone.  If you are unable to get through to the school, please try again.

September, 2007
I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to the students, alumni, teachers and administrative and custodial staff of William B. Ogden Elementary School on the occasion of its 150th Anniversary.
Education is the foundation of a successful society. Without it, the lessons of the past are lost and the promise of the future is wasted. William B. Ogden Elementary School, founded as Public School #10, has been preparing the youth of Chicago for the responsibilities of citizenship and the rigors of adult life for 150 years. This exemplary record speaks well of the permanence of learning in an ever-changing world.

Congratulations to Kenneth M. Staral, present Principal, for his leadership and to all current staff members for their dedication and support as you continue to provide the best quality education to the students at Ogden Elementary. I salute those who in the past have labored to see that the children of this community have had a place to study, to play, and to come together in a spirit of learning.

Best wishes to the students, staff and parents of William B. Ogden Elementary School for many more years of successful educating Chicago’s young people. Thank you for all you do on behalf of our children.
Sincerely,
Arne Duncan
