OIHS Junior Featured in Sun Times
One of Ogden's own high schoolers was featured in a Chicago Sun Times article. CPS juniors are able to take college courses at any of the City Colleges of Chicago. Here at Ogden, there are 20 students enrolled in this program that take courses at Harold Washington College. Here's

cps regional science fair
CPS Regional Science Fair was held at Truman College on Friday, January 27, 2012 and our own 6th grader, Brendan Allen, won the Top Prize (Outstanding). His project category was in botany and the title of the project was 'Underground Farmers." He conducted his experment by growing plants. He made every effort in producing a quality Display Board as well as writing up the Final Research Paper. Brendan will represent Ogden at the City Science Fair in March. Only 4 out of about 50 6th graders at the Area Science Fair are selected to represent the Area.
Ogden Debaters Finish Season Strong
Eighth Graders Lydia Allen and Lenny Brahin, star debaters for Ogden all season, made it to the finals of the Chicago Middle School Debate Championships on March 10 at Schurz High School.
In their only defeat of the season, the Ogden team lost the final debate to a team from Sacred Heart and earned second place honors in the Varsity division. Lenny and Lydia's 18-1 season record remains as a phenomenal achievement for them and for Ogden's debate team, now in its second year.
Another 8th grade team, Calder Laban and Anthony Sung, captured 7th place in the tournament. Three Ogden debaters won individual speaker awards: Anthony (2nd place), Lenny (3rd) and 7th grader Eric Ligas (11th). And 8th Grader Maiwenn Brethenoux was named Ogden's Most Valuable Debater for her contributions all season.
In the final team standings, Ogden captured 2nd place out of 11 teams in its division, and was 3rd among the 23 teams in the citywide league. Congratulations to Mr. Jacoby, Ogden's coach, his assistant coach Mr. McCormick and the 20 Ogden middle school students who competed this year.

Ogden Middle School's National Geographic Geography Bee
8th grader Tyler Cochran pulled off a flawless win becoming Ogden Middle School's National Geographic Geography Bee champion for the 2011-2012 school year. Tyler didn't answer one question incorrectly throughout the entire Bee! His winning question?

Ogden High School freshman, Amanda Medendorp, was recently elected to be student representative on the Ogden Local School Council! Congratulations Amanda!
Ogden Int'l High School Freshmen Prevail!
CPS Regional Science Fair was recently held at North Eastern University and two of our own freshman students, Jacob Klein and Andres Kundert, won the Top Prize (Outstanding). Jacob’s project category was in Chemistry and the title of the project was “Pepper Breakdown." He conducted his experiment by extracting the amount of vitamin C that is found in different stages of ripeness of bell peppers. Andreas’s project category was in Microbiology and the title of the project was “Fungus Among Us.” He conducted his experiment to see if the growing mold changes from different amounts of light. They both made every effort in producing quality Display Boards as well as writing up the Final Research Paper. Both Jacob and Andreas will represent Ogden at the City Science Fair in March. Only 30 out of about 100 high school students at the Area Science Fair are selected to represent the Area. We are very proud of them both.
