horizontal and vertical planning

Vertical planning is planning between grade levels. Example: A seventh grade teacher will meet with sixth grade and eighth grade to discuss and share curriculum and ideas.

Horizontal planning is planning with in grade levels. Example: meeting with all the ninth grade teachers in a building.

Horizontal and vertical planning is the key component in an effective IB curriculum.
