EDGAR SANCHEZ-FERRER
Mr. Sanchez-Ferrer, educated at Northeastern Illinois University, has been in the Chicago Public School system for over fifteen years. He taught grades 6, 7, and 8th for 10 years before becoming Dean of Student and Community Affairs at Ogden. Prior to joining CPS, Mr. Sanchez-Ferrer worked for several years in youth social services which included employment as an Independent Living Youth Counselor with the Department of Children and Family Services, a Teen Outreach Counselor with the well-known Northwest Youth Outreach Center, a Health Educator for teens at the reputable Infant Welfare Society, and as a Youth Counselor for high risk teens at Aspira of Illinois based out of Shurz High School. He is endorsed in teaching the Gifted Child and Jr. High School Language Arts. Mr. Sanchez-Ferrer is also certified in Family Life and Aids Education. He continues to teach a three-week course in Family Life and Aids Education to upper grades every school year. As Dean of Student and Community Affairs, he serves as a liaison between students, parents and teachers, while also collaborating with our business and community partners in our Gold Coast and Near North communities and bringing them into our school through special programs of support. He is also Vice-President of the Friends of Ogden and continuously involved in all aspects of school fundraisers and special school events.
