Kindergarten Expectations
Students entering kindergarten should be working on the following skills prior to the first day of school:
- Recognizes Name
- Identifies letters in the alphabet
- Matches letter sounds to symbols
- Counts and identifies one through ten
- Can identify numbers in a set
- Identifies colors and shapes
- Buttons and zips
- Writes first name
- Cutting basic lines with scissors
- Compliance when given directions
- Uses glue properly
- Understands book properties (title, front, back, etc.)
