If you have not done so, you can pay the Supply Fee ($65.00) or
pay for our school's yearbook ($30.00) during Report Card Pick-up. The
Supply Fee helps cover the costs incurred by the school for
instructional materials. We have a limited number of yearbooks for
sale. Payment now will ensure you receive a copy when they arrive in
June. Payment for the Supply Fee and the yearbook may be made with
cash or money order at the school or, for a nominal fee, you can also
pay the fee on-line using a credit card via the e-pay link on our
website, www.ogdenschool.org. Personal checks will NOT be accepted since numerous checks have bounced this year, thus having the school incur additional fees.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Interruptions in your child’s classroom throughout the day can be very disruptive to the educational process.  When a class is disrupted in the middle of a lesson, a student’s focus and concentration can be negatively affected.  Unnecessary interruptions in the classroom often impose on the classroom environment and are a disservice to your child and the rest of his/her classmates.  Please be advised of the following in order to minimize classroom disruptions and maximize instructional time:

FORGOTTEN MATERIALS:  It is your child’s responsibility to bring all materials required for the school day.  If your child does not bring materials such as books, homework, etc., the Main Office cannot assure that any late materials delivered to school will get to your child on time.

FORGOTTEN LUNCHES:
Please remember to discuss your child’s lunch plans before school.  In situations where you must bring your child’s lunch during the school day, please make sure that your child knows to check the Main Office on their way to the cafeteria.

MESSAGES:
Please refrain from sending messages to your child during the school day.  Please set up a contingency plan with your child if their normal routine is compromised.  For example, if you are running late to pick up your child, make sure that they know to go to the Main Office or another designated area to wait for you.

EARLY DISMISSALS:
Although it is understandable that some appointments can often only be made during the school day, please consider scheduling your child’s appointments before or after school or refer to the schedule of half-days or days off.  Furthermore, the Main Office and Branch Office cannot issue early dismissals after

3:00 p.m. due to the procedures that must be completed to ensure an orderly dismissal.

SCHEDULE & EMERGENCIES:  Please check our website www.ogdenschool.org for the weekly schedule of activities and events.  In addition, we will post any changes to the schedule (time change, location change, cancellation, etc.) as soon as we are informed.  Also, on severe weather days, school closing information will be posted.  Due to the volume of calls we receive, it is advisable for you to refer to our website to get school information rather than calling the school.

In addition, there is no parking on Walton Street.  Parents should be advised that the corners of Walton Street and Dearborn Street are designated for the school bus at the beginning and end of the day.  Since we have an increase in the number of buses coming to Ogden on a daily basis, parking on the north side of Walton Street, except the designated handicap spaces, will not be permitted before or after school.  Please do not leave your car unattended at any time as we need traffic to flow and buses to get to their designated location. Parents/Guardians may drop off children on Walton Street between State Street and the handicap zone and continue to proceed down the street.  The handicap spaces on Walton Street are for authorized vehicles transporting Ogden students only.  If you are waiting for your child at the end of the day, please wait along the curbside and remain in your vehicle. Do NOT leave your vehicle unattended.  Due to the congestion in the area, we must keep at least one lane of traffic moving.  Vehicles are often left unattended and students have to walk into the street to board and exit buses.  Ogden School is not responsible for any individual that may receive a parking ticket in these restricted areas.  Thank you for your concern and cooperation.

Finally, due to a change in the Fire Code, Room 013, our art classroom, can no longer be used for students in grades K-6 during the school day.  Therefore, we relocated the art room to Room 010.  Since Room 010 can only accommodate a limited number of students, Ms. Cabrera will provide instruction to half of the class while the other half will receive academic instruction.  The groups will change at the end of the quarter so all students will have art instruction for at least three quarters during this academic year.  As we plan for September, the art room willmove to a larger classroom since the sixth grade will be relocated to the Ogden Branch and students will receive instruction all four quarters.

Sincerely,

Kenneth M. Staral
